JAW PAIN (TMJ PAIN TREATMENT)
Because jaw pain has many underlying causes, correct diagnosis is crucial. In order to provide the best analgesic treatment, our doctor needs to find out the exact cause.
Causes
There are several possible causes of jaw pain, which may be related to physical injury, nerve problems, or vascular problems.
The most common cause of mandibular pain is temporomandibular joint disorder (TMJ). This affects 12 percent of the population. Nearly 5 percent seek treatment for serious illness. Women of child-bearing age are most susceptible to TMJ.
Other known causes of jaw or facial pain include:
Grinding, clenching, clicking, or opening your mouth too wide: in most cases, grinding and gritting occur while you sleep, leading to tooth damage and jaw pain. It can also occur during periods of increased emotional stress.
Osteomyelitis: this is a condition in which a body infection affects bones and related tissues.
Tooth condition: includes gum disease, tooth decay, tooth space, tooth damage or abscess.

Sleep Dentistry
What Is Sleep Dentistry?
The nature of Sedative you receive at the dentist's depends on your level of anxiety and the type of test or procedure you are undergoing. Intravenous sedation, also known as conscious sedation, is an intermediate zone that doesn't allow you to fall asleep completely. It does make you less aware of what's going on during your treatment. While some sedatives are inhaled (such as nitrous oxide) or taken in pill form, intravenous sedatives are administered intravenously.
As a 2016 article in the Australasian Medical Journal (AMJ) points out, IV sedation is usually reserved for patients who are very anxious about a dental visit. It works quickly, it's easy to adjust the dose given, and the sedative has a long period of amnesia, meaning you won't remember what happened during your dental visit or treatment. One drawback of IV sedation is that a dentist needs to be well-trained in the administration of it, meaning that not every dental practice offers it as an option.
Sleep Dentistry Cost
Sleep dentistry is very affordable and costing of sleep dentistry in Pain Free Dentist Sydney start with 600 Aud only. Most patient are concerned about costing of sleep dentistry and at Pain Free Dentist we take care of our patient and provide them the best services.
Are You a Candidate for IV Sedation?
If you are generally in good health but fear going to the dentist or feel anxious when you are at the dentist, sedation might help you get your teeth cleaned so you can maintain or improve your oral health. Some people are more likely to experience adverse effects due to sedation, as the AMJ notes. Older people and people with other health conditions have an increased risk for side effects. Often, dentists will give older people a smaller dose of the sedative to lower the risk of negative effects. To avoid needing a major dental procedure in the first place, adopt great oral hygiene habits. Brush twice daily with a toothpaste.
